FAQ

A. Plastic is a life-changing resource – used extensively across urban and rural set ups. However the same qualities that make it useful, has also made it extremely challenging to dispose of. With an intent to address plastic pollution and empower women we initiated project’ Green Pari’–Protect Her Save Nature, a social initiative addressing menstrual health and hygiene for the benefit of the under privileged women/adolescent girls and to spread environmental literacy. For this we launched a scheme called ‘Plastics for Pads’ where we encouraged marginalised communities to collect low value plastics in exchange for a set of pads. We were challenged with the abundant plastic waste collected across communities, and decided to look for alternatives to best utilise them.

We sought ways to up-cycle and repurpose this plastic waste and realised that the women of the community were very skilled with hand work like crochet, weaving, breading etc. The success of this program inspired us to rethink our approach to plastic. We began working with the women and tapped their skills in reviving native crafts. This also gave them financial stability. With this, we conceptualised 8Finity – New beginning from Old ends. We set up our studio and started developing a product range for the global urban consumer, while up-cycling the plastic collected.
